Liberty High School celebrated three seniors Thursday as they signed their national letters of intent to play at the collegiate level. Jacob Jackson will play baseball at Southern Wesleyan University, Kendrick King will compete in Track and Field at Erskine College, and Hannah Whitaker will play softball at Anderson University.
Jacob Jackson is a 3-year letter winner in baseball at Liberty. He is a 2-time All-region player, was LHS pitcher of the year last year as a junior, and made the Diamond Prospects 3A All-State Team last year. He had a perfect game and was a 2019 Preseason Honorable Mention All-American. He has led the team in doubles and in hits the past two seasons.
Kendrick King has lettered in many sports at Liberty. He lettered in Football this season as he was the 2019 most improved player with 4 interceptions. He is working on his 5th varsity letter in basketball- playing on the varsity team since 8th grade. He was the 2018-2019 defensive MVP and is currently a team captain. In track, he holds personal records of 11.49 in the 100m dash, 24.62 in the 200m dash, 20-4 in the Long Jump, and 40-2 in the Triple Jump. He is a 6-time letter winner and has competed in the 100m dash, 200m dash, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, long jump, and triple jump as a Red Devil. In 2019, he competed in the United States Association of Track and Field Region 4 Junior Olympics, playing 3rd in the Long Jump.
Hannah Whitaker is a 4-year letter winner in volleyball. She was the 2019 Offensive MVP. She is a 2x All-Region Player in 2018 and 2019. She was selected in the North South All-Star Game in 2019. In softball, Whitaker has a .321 batting average, and .43 RBIs. She is a 4x All-Region Player, a 5 Year letter winner, and a 2x All-State athlete.
